KROKODIL ZOO

Welcome!

Young Cuvier's dwarf caimansThe Krokodil Zoo was opened seventeen years ago in the downtown of Kaposvar, a little Hungarian city. The Terrarium gives home to a unique exhibition of exotic reptiles: snakes, turtles and crocodiles.

Our specialities are the Madagascar boa, the snapping turtle along with Cuvier's and Schneider's dwarf caimans (Paleosochus palbebrosus and trigonatus), - the smallest-in-size crocodilians of the world. Altogether 10-11 animals of these species can be found in Europe.

The Broad-snouted caiman (Cayman latirostris) is a real curiousity, there are no more than 6 animals of this kind in Europe. The Yacare caiman is not less rare either (Cayman yacare), with up to 60 specimens alive in captivity worldwide.

:: News, actual

The renovation of the Terrarium is finished and the renewed Krokodil Zoo has re-opened its doors for the visitors.
